Important Updates on 2024 Meeting

The 2024 Dragonfly Society of Americas Annual Meeting will be held in Marietta on 28-30 July. All OOS members are invited—there will not be a separate OOS meeting. Online registration should be available by the end of April.

The DSA is accepting proposals for short oral presentations (no more than 20 minutes) to be delivered during the meeting on 29 June 2024. Proposals are welcome on any topic consistent with the DSA’s mission to advance “the discovery, conservation and knowledge of Odonata through observation, collection, research, publication, and education.” Presentations are not limited to peer-reviewed, published research. They deadline for 250 word abstracts has been extended to April 30th (further information).

A larval workshop will be offered for people who have some experience working with nymphs, dissecting scopes, and the like. There will be a fee. At the same time this advanced workshop is taking place, there will also be beginner and intermediate level workshops offered on adult odonata that will not require an extra fee.

The Upcoming New Field Guide

The new field guide has been fully written and laid out, and it is in the final proofreading stage, after which it will be sent out for review, correction, and then printing. Hopefully, it will be available for this summer’s meeting.

And hopefully, we’ll see you in Marietta at the end of July.
